Garth Brooks has publicly denied allegations of rape made against him by his former makeup artist, Jane Row. Row claims that Brooks sexually assaulted her during a work trip to Los Angeles in 2019.
In response to the allegations, Brooks stated that Row is attempting to extort him for money and claimed that he has been harassed by her for several months, including receiving threats. Brooks stated that he will handle these claims legally and has full confidence that the legal system will reveal the truth.
Roe has described inappropriate comments and behavior directed towards her while working for Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood. She alleges that during a hotel stay for the Grammy Awards in 2019, Brooks assaulted her in what she describes as a painful and traumatic experience.
Following this incident, Brooks filed a complaint against Roe, claiming that her allegations could irreparably damage his reputation and career.
Rose’s laywer said in a statement to NBC news that Brook’s efforts to silence our client through the filing of a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation. They added we are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions.
The case has brought attention to issues of sexual misconduct in the country music industry.
